Let’s Change the Narrative Hack-A-Thon

The International Girls Academy is calling all female students from middle school to college to participate in our Inaugural Hack-A-Thon to change the narrative around diversity and inclusion, race relations, S.T.E.M, the digital divide, HR, and more.

Why are we hosting Let’s Change the Culture Hack-A-Thon?

During COVID-19, various pre-existing areas of racial injustices were brought to light. Racial inequalities, the digital divide, and the hiring of black talent are some of the many challenges that we wish to discuss but will take a collective effort to change.

What is the Let’s Change the Narrative Hack-A-Thon?

The International Girls Academy is calling all female students from middle school to college to participate in our Inaugural Hack-A-Thon to help us change the narrative around Diversity and Inclusion, Race Relations, S.T.E.M, The Digital Divide, HR, and more. However, the International Girls Academy can’t do it alone. We need the help of employees from various occupations to serve as mentors, judges, speakers, and sponsors and make this event effective.

Why February?

We would like to honor our Ancestors during Black History month by using this event to keep their legacy and vision going. We understand that Black History month shouldn’t just be celebrated once a year, it should be celebrated, embraced 365 days.

How will this Hack-A-Thon work?

For the entire month of February students, professors, employees, mentors, and sponsors will have the opportunity to change the narrative in their respective fields by providing internship opportunities, employment opportunities, mentorship opportunities, and leveling the gap in product donation and access, etc.
