What is the UMOJA Scholarship?

Derived from the Swahili word for Unity, the UMOJA Scholarship honors the power of community and collective progress.

Every two years, we award book and academic scholarships to outstanding members of the International Girls Academy, supporting their journeys through high school and college.

What Does the Scholarship Provide?

• Book Scholarships: Covering the cost of course materials, required reading, and vital study resources.

• Academic Scholarships: Financial awards that help offset tuition, fees, or living expenses—empowering girls to focus on their education and growth.

Who Is Eligible?

• Current International Girls Academy Members

• Maintaining active participation and a commitment to the values of unity, leadership, and service.

• Demonstrate academic effort, community involvement, and a desire to make a positive impact.

How It Works

• Application Opens: Scholarship applications launch every two years. Eligible members receive notification via email and our members’ portal.

• Submit Your Story: Applicants share their academic goals, achievements, and how the scholarship will help them make a difference.

• Selection Process: Recipients are chosen by our scholarship committee, evaluating merit, commitment, and need.

• Scholarship Awards Ceremony: Winners are announced and celebrated at our biannual International Girls Academy Unity Summit.
